Vegan strawberry milk is a non-dairy recipe that will satisfy your cravings while fitting in with many different diets and lifestyles.

Is there anything more fun than drinking something pink? This strawberry milk is non-dairy, which makes it fit into so many dietary lifestyles and allergy restrictions. And though I’m not personally vegan, it’s always nice to have plant-based option!

Besides being dairy free, strawberry milk also has no refined sugar or added colors. This healthy version will have you breaking up with Nesquik strawberry milk for good!

How to Make Vegan Strawberry Milk

Strawberry Syrup

  • Dice 1 lb. of strawberries.
  • Place a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl and set it aside.
  • Place the strawberries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and salt to a saucepan.
  • Bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. A foam will develop on top–scoop it off and discard it.
  • Continue to simmer the syrup until it has reduced to about half, stirring every couple of minutes. This should take about 20-30 minutes.
  • Once the syrup has finished cooking, pour it into the strainer and allow the syrup to drain into the bowl beneath. Let it sit for a while as the thick syrup can take a bit to work through the strainer.
  • Transfer the syrup to a jar and cool before using.
  • The strawberry syrup will keep for up to two weeks in your refrigerator.

Strawberry Milk

  • To make a glass of strawberry milk, place 3-4 tablespoons of strained strawberry syrup in the bottom of a glass.
  • Add 6 oz. (about 3/4 cup) of your favorite non-dairy or vegan milk to the syrup.
  • Stir the milk until the syrup is completely mixed in.
  • Taste it to see if more strawberry syrup is needed.
  • Drink the milk right away, stirring as needed.

The Best Non-Dairy Milk for Strawberry Milk

Pretty much any dairy-free milk will work well for this recipe! Here are some great options:

  • Coconut milk
  • Almond Milk
  • Soy Milk
  • Peanut Milk (it would taste like a PBJ!)

Since the strawberry syrup is a bit thick, I would recommend avoiding thicker vegan milks like hemp or even oat milk.

Recipe Notes and Tips:

  • The strawberry syrup will keep for up to two weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Keep it on hand, along with your favorite dairy free milk, for a quick and easy glass of strawberry milk!
  • The milk will settle if left to sit. You will need to stir it every few minutes to keep the strawberry syrup mixed in well.
  • After you have strained the syrup, you can use the remaining strawberries as a spread for toast, pancakes, etc.
  • Fresh strawberries work best for this syrup, as frozen strawberries will break down and become mushy during cooking.

Strawberry Milk

  • 1 lb. strawberries (see note on frozen berries)
  • 1/41/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
